Kimberly Street Char Koay Teow
Located just outside Kedai Kopi Sin Guat Keong along Kimberley Street, this famous stall is widely revered for its char kuey teow mixed with mantis prawns. The char kuey teow itself is full of wok hei and blessed with a distinctively fragrant taste thanks to the use of a duck egg. Of course, the additional ingredients of succulent mantis and regular prawns helps enhance the richness of the char kuey teow flavour. Also, the employment of bean sprouts and chives add a nice textural contrast to the greasy yet tasty dish. So join the beeline and bloat your tummy!Kimberley Street Char Koay Teow View restaurant

Ah Leng Char Koay Teow
This tourist-friendly spot is famous for its char kuey teow. The bustling stall is commonly thrown in with raining orders but fret not, there are no cutbacks in quality. Both regular and special renditions are available. Come on, with so much hype, not opting for the special CKT would be insane, as it comes with a generous mix of big prawns and mantis prawns. While chicken egg is often used to stir-fry the dish, you can request for duck egg at an additional charge. After all, frying with duck egg helps make the char kuey teow tastier.Ah Leng Char Koay Teow View restaurant

Lorong Selamat Char Koay Teow
Perhaps the most popular char kuey teow stall that is located along Lorong Selamat. Why so famous? Of course, the flavours are spectacular and the aunty with a red hat is said to be pretty rude, especially if you’re upset with the waiting time. The lady cook uses a charcoal stove to stir-fry the dish, which gives the char kuey teow a rightful whiff of woodsy fragrance. Furthermore, you’ll find three pieces of fresh and huge prawns interlaced with cockles, noodles, bean sprouts and eggs. So all your patience will be paid off with an exemplary CKT.Lorong Selamat Char Koay Teow View restaurant

Tiger Char Koay Teow
Whether you go for the standard char kuey teow with chicken egg or the more delectable variation with duck egg, this fried flat noodle dish is just as flavoursome. Then there’s the juicy and fresh big prawn, which complements well with the fragrant char kuey teow. A common rule adhered by the patrons here is to add more prawns for that extra oomph! Six plump and juicy prawns to be precise. Despite scoring in terms of taste, the portion is rather small. If you’re really hungry, opt for the big serving.Tiger Char Koay Teow View restaurant

What makes them so special? Well, Ah Heng, the stall owner prepares the noodles over a charcoal fire. His mastery of fire control and quick frying skills is sure to grab your attention. The CKT was sinfully delicious and was packed with wok hei. Also, make sure you request for an additional fried duck egg. Sg. Dua Char Koay Teow (Telur Ayam Di Basuh)Certified
halalUnlike the usual dry version of Penang’s char kuey teow, Sg. Dua Char Koay Teow at Butterworth offers an alternative “wet” variation. For the uninitiated, the “wet” version refers to the gravy-based char kuey teow. The key here is the gravy that marries the whole dish together with spicy and savoury flavours. In fact, even with the normal serving, they are never skimp with the prawns and cockles. However, many do order the special version to multiply the amount of seafood goodness on the plate. Best enjoyed with pickled chillies.Sg. Dua Char Koay Teow (Telur Ayam Di Basuh) View restaurant

Char Koay Teow (Stall 107) @ Gurney Drive Hawker Centre
Gurney Drive may be one of the most overrated place in Penang, but there is still a particular stall that serves pretty decent good Char Kuay Teow. Known as Stall 107, their version of the Char Kuey Teow is fragrantly fried to cater to so many customers, especially tourists. Customers can choose from either the normal chicken egg or something a little more luxurious like the duck egg. Accompanied by a generous amount of beansprouts, each plate is truly a delight on its own. It may not have been the best in the city, but it certainly is pretty good.Gurney Drive Hawker Center View restaurant

Kampung Jawa Char Koay Teow
A favourite eating spot among many workers in Bayan Baru’s WaHong Café, this famous stall serves awesome plates of char kuey teow. It comes with two big prawns and just so you know, you might be surprised the way the dish is presented on the plate. Call it an artistic style if you must, the char kuey teow is purposefully cramped into one side while leaving the other side of the plate empty. What the gimmicks may be, the flavours are spot on. Be warned, you’ve got to get in early during lunch hours, or wait patientely to nab an empty table.Kampung Jawa Char Koay Teow View restaurant

Siam Road Char Koay Teow
Considered the pioneer for charcoal-fried Kuay Teow as well as one of its main factor of attraction, this humble stall at Siam Road has gotten quite a number of locals and tourists, queuing for it. An elderly uncle, and probably the creator is the only one that mans the store, whipping out delicious plates of Char Kuey Teow accompanied by a handful of medium-sized prawns and Chinese sausages. Finding the stall wouldn't be easy, so just spot the one with the longest queue and you're most probably at the right line. There's also a coffeeshop by the name Hock Ban Hin nearby therefore to ease your consumption time.
